  The best season depends entirely on the destination. In India, the Andaman and Lakshadweep islands are at their clearest from November to May, while Goa and Karnataka run October through May. Pick a country first, then check the “Best season” info on its city pages.

• 02Do I need a diving certification to dive at these destinations?

  No — most dive shops offer beginner-friendly Try Scuba or Discover Scuba Diving experiences that take you on a guided shallow dive without certification. To dive deeper or independently you'll need an Open Water certification (PADI, SSI, or NAUI), which typically takes 3–4 days.

• 04Is scuba diving safe?

  When practised with a certified dive shop, the right gear, and a buddy, scuba diving is statistically very safe. Every certification course covers emergency protocols, buoyancy, and ascent rules. Never dive alone, and don't fly within 18 hours of your last dive.
